  1. HI---When I convert a movie using AVS video converter using best quality settings it will burn the project using the entire DVD disk. When I convert the same project with Convertxtodvd or Wondershare they only use 1/2 or 3/4 of the disk. Visually I can't really tell the difference in quality but would think that the larger AVS file would be better. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Depends on the default settings, and there is no simple answer to this. Video conversion is complex and there's no effective way to simplify it because there are no universal "best settings" that work for all videos.

  3. Hi Rob----I understand what u are saying. Let me ask the question differently. Would a full disk conversion be the best option? Or are you saying that the software using only 1/2 is comparable in quality. Each software is using setting for best quality.

Simple answer to your last question, 'Would a full disk conversion be the best option'. Yes.
Unless you want to put a couple of videos on the same DVD, you are just wasting the allotted DVD space.

1/2 the space comparable in quality if the source video is the same? Not likely. Whether the quality difference is visible or not to you would be the question.

  5. Ok guys, got the answer I needed. I will try to tweak the settings in Wondershare and convertxtodvd to burn files to full disc. Thanks for your help. Frank
