I captured this file from via the Firewire port on my set top box. The box is a Pace RNG110 through Comcast. At one point I was able to play these m2t files with VNC, but I'm not sure what happened. I can use Handbrake and convert the file to mp4 or mk4 without a problem. I'm using Version 2.2.2 Weatherwax (Intel 64bit) on OSX Yosemite.

You did press the play button right? Tested it here on my Mac Mini with OS X 10.11.3 using the latest build from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/.
