Re-encoding Phone Recordings

Hi guys!

Just wondering, I'm sure many of you have recorded videos on your mobile phones and have ended up with massive files.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a program that I can just batch re-encode all the videos to be of a more suitable file size yet maintain the quality.

VidCoder. Choose first the High Profile Preset, Click Settings, Under Video choose Constant Quality and choose around 20-30(bigger value smaller size). Last Choose File->Enqueue multiple files and load all your files. But try first encode one file and see how it looks like and if it gets any smaller.

Or get a bigger HDD or store them online or on a NAS-solution. Because you will always lose quality by shrinking.

Just wondering though, for the video codec, should I use x265?

If you have 1080p videos could you try x265 (H265/HEVC video) and see if it gets any smaller than x264 ( H264/AVC Video) with similar constant quality settings. See https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/376366-Video-Quality-Testing-of-HEVC-Compresssion-H...-bitrate-saved

But note that not every player(and editors) supports h265/hevc video yet. Especially mobile/standalone players.

I would probably still use x264.
