Could anyone recommend the best video capture software as it's a bit of a minefield. I thought getflv looked ok but seems it's Chinese doesn't work and people can't get their money back - usual stories etc. !
I quite like the look of Tube Catcher but thought I'd check first....
Thanks![]()

Very simple and easy thanks especially compared to VLC etc. which is exactly the opposite and quite impossible to understand.
Unfortunately I've got a very slow connection and keeps freezing, so I wondered if there's a way to record repeat programmes overnight somehow ? A timer or something....?
Thanks -
What you are looking for is a stream recorder. Video Capture is a totally different beast. The program that Baldrick suggests captures the video as it plays on your screen so there can not be any timer.
I use Jaksta. That does have a scheduling feature and it captures the stream rather than what you see on your screen.
Even so, a slow connection which freezes will not record smoothly. -
Thanks
I need to keep up with my Swedish so watch SVT and 1 or 2 other Swedish channels who have a lot of repeats with swedish sub titles which is ideal. The problem of going slow and freezing is only in the evenings when people come home from work, so as I work from home anyway I'd like to record during the day and in the small hours when it's quieter and watch later so the reason for the timer. Replay Video Capture is great as it also captures the essential sub titles but it doesn't seem to have the timer....
Would Jacksta also be able to record the sub titles as well as I can't seem to find anything about it on their website ? -
Well if the subs are part of the stream they will record.
Jaksta has a trial version(restricts stream capture to a few minutes) so it will not hurt to try it. The higher-priced version (the one do not have) will also to the screen-capture - Jaksta and Replay are the same company - so then you get the best of both worlds.
Jaksta will NOT capture protected streams so you may have to go down the Replay route. -
Tried Jaksta but still not sure if it's possible or not to capture the Swedish sub titles on the link below or if I'm doing something wrong. In the bottom right hand corner click on the capital letter "T" then the top entry "Textning pa" which displays the sub titles the rest being automatic...
Can you confirm....?
Thanks

No. The subtitles are controlled by the player and not built-in to the stream.
I just downloaded the episode and they are not displayed even when the player is set before the video starts. I think the term is 'closed caption'. There might be a way to download them independently but I do not have that knowledge. -
You can get the subs and stream from http://pirateplay.se/app.html#http://www.svtplay.se/video/4946476/hundtvodd-med-martin...4-2?start=auto

Thanks Baldrick.
It's playing ok in Windows Media Player but still not getting the sub titles on the screen only on a separate webpage, also the volume is stuck at 29% and strangely can't open the icon in the bottom right to increase it ?
Thanks -
You must save the subs and probably convert to normal srt with for example subtitle edit. And then get a player that can load subtitle like vlc media player, potplayer etc.

Great thank you, just had a look on their website and sounds perfect meaning recording using the timer over night and when away etc. is possible after all.... !
Snygg !
