Turned on a computer last nite, (its been 'parked' for 2 weeks) (I use it mainly for ripping) and I get no sound from media player or WinDVD. On-board realtek audio. Open the Realtek control panel & I get sound (has a 'loopy' & buzzing bee sound to show/see how/where sound is, relative to speakers, this sound works) but mp3 , mpg, movies etc no sound. Turned it off & went to bed, havent turned it on yet this morning.

    Where should I look first??

One of my work systems suffered same issue caused by an ms update.

Check for ms updates during the period and uninstall all, disable update feature, reboot ... see if that resolves problem

    Failing then

Reinstall using the original drivers package should resolve broken registry connections and corrupted hardware drivers caused by any number of afflictions except bad hardware.

No ud's, comp not connected to the 'net.

It took 3 hours to find the drivers disk! Re-installed drvrz & it works now.

It had worked just fine, turned it off normally, restarted it 2 wks later with the problemo.

I knew I had the 'search' ahead, thought someone might have had a simple solution b4 shutting down the (this, my i-net) computer.

    Anyways, all is well.
