So, long story short, I am trying to capture/convert a series of irreplaceable VHS home movies (like 99% of people). My main priority is getting at the least a viable digital backup of the VHS tapes. I had been tinkering with Dazzle dvc100 usb capture device to send the VCR signal to Pinnacle studio ultimate 19 on the PC. Some technical glitches and issues makes this route unreliable at the moment.

I managed to get access to a VCR/DVD "recorder" combo unit for the next 24hrs only. The model is a Toshiba SD-V394. The first thing I did was go and download the manual online to get a grasp on the settings and capabilities it had. Here's the thing....after reading (see scanning/skimming) the manual multiple times, I can't seem to find any direct reference to "dubbing" the vhs onto the dvd side. It seems like every individual function necessary to be able to copy the VHS playback onto the DVD side is present. The dvd can record, the VHS can record etc etc. etc.....Hell, there's even a set of instructions on how to record the playback from a dvd onto a vhs tape!! (seriously??....WHO would do that? lol). I'm trying to attach the manual to this post. Can somebody tell me if I'm just blind or missing something?
