    Hi guys.
Sorry for my poor English. It's not my native language so have patience

I've been running with MPC-HC + LAV Filters + madVR for several years now. I love it, especially that reclock thing that comes with madVR, but the time has come to look for something else. Perhaps something new with a better looking interface.

The only demand i have is good video/audio quality and supports subtitles. I've been looking at Kodi for some time now. I did try XBMC for like 6 years ago, but the support and quality back then did not do the trick.

Nothing much has changed. Many people use MPC-HC as their player for Kodi/XBMC.

Quality issues aside, which can often be resolved with tweaking, it boils down to personal preference (ie: the gui / interface). I'd say give a few a try and see what you like (Zoom, PotPlayer, VLC, etc.).

  3. There is nothing wrong with VLC and it runs on every OS I can think of.

VLC is good but I don't think it's really all that high performance. I've found SMplayer performs better in both windows and linux.

I've also found setting up a decent size for the local file buffer makes a huge difference, esp. on less than cutting edge hardware. Unfortunately that setting in VLC for some reason is hard to find in later versions. It's in settings > show all > input and codecs for some reason. The VLC interface is good until you go into settings and then it stinks. But many players are like that. In SMplayer it's better than most.
