  1. hello,

i just found this forum via google and found it very helpful, so i believe i will get the help from you guys.

i have samsung LED tv and i play movies and video songs on it, unfortunately it does not support mkv profile 4 or higher format and i have some important files/videos to play,

so how can i convert mkv profile 4 video to mkv profile 2 or 3 and retain the same HD 1080p quality?

    Thanks in advanced.

No such thing. MKV has no profiles or levels. Only the h264/avc video codec.

    Yep, it's the h264 level.

But most players supports 4.1. What is the led tv model?

Maybe easiest to reconvert to avi divx/xvid with something like video to video converter, freemake video converter.

  8. Try opening one of the files it won't play using MKVMergeGUI (one you're certain is high profile, level 4.1). Start off by unchecking everything except the video and audio streams. Look under the attachments tab. If there's any attachments listed, de-select them. Save that as a new MKV and see what happens hwne you try to play it.
My Samsung TV doesn't seem to be all that crazy about some types of attachments. It says "unsupported format".... or something to that effect..... until I delete them.
    Just something to try.....
