I just got a basic DVR which records onto a USB drive and have recorded a film from DTV as an .mts file directly onto such a drive.
Opening the file in VirtualDub shows an approximate sync issue of about -1000ms. Putting this into the interleave setting has the video and audio in sync as I skip through the file. However, when I try saving the file as an .AVI file for further editing, it only gets so far and it stops, giving me an error starting:
So I imported the .mts file into XviD4PSP. I set the file output to DV (NTSC) with PCM audio and it saves the file into an .AVI. I then bring this file into Premiere Pro but the audio is even further out of sync, and actually seems to drift further out as the film goes on. When I skip through the timeline to the end, the audio is now about 4-5 seconds behind.Code:ffmpeg discontinuity reading frame...
Why is this and is there any way to properly resync the audio to the video? It is very frustrating![]()

Skip the free tools. When I tried that route, none of them (including ProjectX), could deal with the transmission errors in ATSC transport streams which cause video and audio to go out of sync. Rename the .mts extension to .ts and try VideoReDo Plus for editing first, since it costs less. If that doesn't work try VideoReDo TV Suite for editing.

your mistake is starting with virtual dub
not the tool for this job
i use videoredo ,open the file in videoredo and use the quickfix option under tools
this looks for hiccips in the audio/video and removes and smooths any bumps, keeping everything in sync
the output is an mpeg2 file with a direct copy of the video frames, no trans-coding
you can take this file to your favorite converter
or you can edit out commercial etc.. in video redo, again no transcoding, frame accurate, only frames that are in a cut gop will get recoded
no connection just a happy customer, i've been using it for several years -
I've never used this before but I am running a demux on the file now. So far, I am getting errors like:
Code:TS bit error in packet 1372193 @ pos. 263460872, dropping.. (0 / false)
Code:-> more than 500 warnings/errors, stop logging..

I often need to save something that I recorded with my DVR, and even if the recorded content has dropped frames (audio / video) ffmpeg has never failed to process the content. Even if the content seems impossible to open I've had success with just remuxing the [M|M2]TS into MKV with ffmpeg and process it further from there.
I'm the developer behind FFQueue. My posts might reflect this! ;-) -

Perfect reply by Hech54.
For MPEG2/MTS files I used this config: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/341920-Need-Original-Drivers-for-Avermedia-AverTV-H...=1#post2236683
Its fix various gaps on file correct frame rate, audio sync, open in editors...
