AC RYAN DVR HD,I need help with the recording system

Hello all,
As a newbie I have placed the post on this forum page,recently as one week ago I bought a AC RYAN DVR HD,I need help with the recording system or whatever,as each time I try to do any recording,all I get is a red circle with a red diagonal bar across it.
I live in Thailand,the TV system is TRUE MOVE,so I am trying to access the recording system through the satellite TV top box,all to no avail,from this system,can anyone explain to me what I need to do to rectify this please.
I can view the actual program that is on the top box,through AV-IN thats all.When I press the record red button,all that appears is the red circle with a red bar going across it diagonally.
