Fitting a 2 Slot GPU in an older case

This is my case & can someone confirm if fitting a 2 slot card is pretty easy to do? Maybe just have to cut the centre piece/divider between the two openings? If anyone knows & has done this.



I would like the gpu to go where the current one is.

A double slot card will fit into that space in the back of your case without having to cut out the center divider. The cards are made to fit that configuration. You'll notice on the back of the cards that there is nothing on them in the area of that center divider.

Depending on how big the fan is, it may extend fairly close to the expansion card you have just below.

What you really have to be wary of is the length of the video cards these days. Many are just too long physically to fit into some older cases. Make sure to measure the space you have and be aware of the length of the new one you are buying. And be sure that your power supply has the correct connections and the voltage necessary for a modern card.

You will need to remove the add-on card currently located below the video card. It will be in the way.

Thanks, done all the rest & my system meets the cards requirements. Had to cut some internal metal & move hdd, should fit. Its a 2004 case back when gpus were tiny.

My mistake. I was not seeing the complete picture in the browser window the last time. (The top was cut off) I thought the green card was a low-profile video card. However, it is possible the green card would partially block the new video card's fan or fans.

Just buy a new case,i did that to make it much easier to install newer items.

Sorry but its not worth it for a 32bit problematic OS with a dodgy mobo. For 2 optical drives & many hdds & large silent fans yes its needed. Im waiting for ssd drives at 6-8TB & under 1K before i abounded this old machine.
