A double slot card will fit into that space in the back of your case without having to cut out the center divider. The cards are made to fit that configuration. You'll notice on the back of the cards that there is nothing on them in the area of that center divider.
Depending on how big the fan is, it may extend fairly close to the expansion card you have just below.
What you really have to be wary of is the length of the video cards these days. Many are just too long physically to fit into some older cases. Make sure to measure the space you have and be aware of the length of the new one you are buying. And be sure that your power supply has the correct connections and the voltage necessary for a modern card. -
You don't have to cut the case. However, video cards that occupy two expansion slots usually have a double bracket to help stabilize them as well as a large fan that covers the adjacent expansion slot. You will need to remove the add-on card currently located below the video card. It will be in the way.

Thanks, done all the rest & my system meets the cards requirements. Had to cut some internal metal & move hdd, should fit. Its a 2004 case back when gpus were tiny.
Hi, I tend to think the green add on card will be fine after a measure. Its 5cm thick & there seems to be enough space. Or do you mean in the way as in affecting air ventilation? -
