    Hi people, newbie here.

Sorry if this the wrong place to ask, but here goes.

I have a LG dvd recorder, model number not know at this time, will post soonest. Anyway, it was working fine for a while, then this evening, it formats the new disc, but takes for ever to read the disc? I used an old disc, with plenty of room to record onto, and the timer menu said everything was "ok". However, it did not record anything? I am using DVD+RW, that have worked fine in the past. Managed to record required program by manually pressing record button.

I am hoping it's a software hang-up, and a simple unplug will resovle the problem, but am also hoping others have more info.

    Thanks

Try a different or new disc. While RW discs are reuseable, they do have a limited life span. The number of writes will depend largely on the brand/quality.

Having said that, if it was a media issue, I'd expect you to be seeing a media error. As it didn't record at all (and no apparent error), it sounds like the unit is faulty or needs to be reset as you noted.

How old is the recorder? Does it have a built-in Hard Drive?

    Sorted, by a simple un-plug re-plug. Soft-ware hang up

Only problem I have know is that it formats the new disc fine, but takes for ever to read disc, which is not normal. I am hoping it takes longer for a new disc.
