  1. Unfortantely for the time being i am stuck with a 13' Inch Zenith TV/VCR combo to play my Xbox games and DVD's on. I purchased the DVD kit for the Xbox and it recognizes dvd's fine.

the problem I am having is when i play most DVD titles the picture is normal for about 30 seconds, then the picture on the screen will get very bright. It will sit at that level for 30 more seconds, then become rather dark. It didn't do this on a 27 inch Sharp TV i had it connected to before. Some DVD titles will play perfectly fine (i.e. AntiTrust, Dave Matthews Band Listner Supported, David Gray Live at the Point). It also plays Xbox games with no problems, but most DVD's i run into this problem.

It seems obvious to me that the TV is the problem. Is there a setting or something I should change or can this TV just not support DVD playback? I have never heard of a TV doing this, but I am new to all this stuff.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Because it's a tv/vcr combo the signal passes through the vcr's video signal processing circuits, so your problem is all our vcd/dvd fans "friendly" MACROVISION! In case you don't no it's a anti-piracy for illegal copies to VHS. This is why your TV/VCR doesn't display properly. There is no problem with your sharp TV because TVs are built to ignore Macrovision (obviously) or else movies would be unwatchable while vcrs are HAVE to detect macrovision so you can't make illegal copies. Of course there always a way around Macrovision. I advise you to buy a video stablizer to get rid of the problem. It's a filter that you plug between your DVD (x-box player) and your TV/VCR.

  4. Well I'm not sure because where I live there is no Radio Shack. I'm from portugal. But I guess you can find one there. There are also a few web sites selling them. Try searching in the internet
