I have been testing conversion of divx to dvd and have found that the output appears to have a slight jerk pretty much every second of playback. ANyone else experienced this. Using TMPEGenc 2.53 with standard DVD(Pal) template, with encoding set to CQ of max 4000 Kbps/sec. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
HaZ

Most Divx movies I have come accross are from region 1 DVD rips, encoded as 23.97fps (NTSC Film). If you re-encode to Pal format at 25 fps Tmpgenc will insert 1 extra, duplicate, frame every second resulting in the jerkyness you describe. If your DVD player/TV can handle NTSC, use the NTSC(film) template and apply 3:2 pulldown (either in Tmpgenc or use pulldown.exe after conversion), else see the howto's for a guide on coverting NTSC to PAL.
BTW, to find the frame rate of your divx, in win2k/XP it can be found under file properties. If using 98/ME, load the file in virtualdub and look at file properties from the file menu for more detaild info. -
Thats the one mate...cool so now i know why its happening...just gotta find a way around it...didnt realise i was converting a 23.9 fps film to 25 fps...thanks for the reply
