This is not your standard post - because ;
I'm not a video person ... so
it doesn't ask about difficulties with highly specific technical questions - because - I'm just getting started with my first home project and I know very little about -computer video programs, codecs, formats, DVD's and so on - so that's why I'm here - and at a whole bunch of other sites and forums trying to educate myself through forums and tutorials etc.
So what I've decided to do - here - is copy and paste a post I submitted to another forum -explaining what my project is about - in the hope that it's okay to do this and I can get further help from the community.
Given my inexperience with all of this , when I explored VideoHelp website I got somewhat overwhelmed with all the data and info available so I hope someone can point me in the right direction and help keep my options to a minimum - so I don't end up with a thousand different avenues to explore.
Here is the post I submitted to another forum which will explain my project
thank you jcc
Hi I am completely new to PP; never used it before, don't know anything .
I have a DVD project I'm working on with Adobe Premiere Pro CC and I'm not in the industry . This is completely a home project and I could use what I think is just basic help determining if PP might be helpful with creating this DVD .
This DVD is something I'm trying to do for my 90 yr. old mother . It has to be on disk so she can just put a disk in a player and hit play . She will be watching this on a TV so it has to be 720X480 SD ntsc etc.
I want to include 4 different media types on the DVD.
They are -
1) several text pages created originally in .ODT - which now also exist in .jpg - serving as a brief intro. to what she will be viewing on the DVD
2) numerous (71) web pages "saved as " into a folder originally as .ODT ; from 3 websites - so she can see info from these 3 websites I have an interest in ; containing text and photos
3) An Android video , formatted appropriately for DVD of myself talking to her and showing her my current apartment and surrounding grounds .
4) videos from You Tube of people from her generation - like Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald and others plus some current stuff so she can see what goes on today in the world
I will put media types 1,2 and 3 all on 1 disk ( pretty sure it will fit ) and the You Tube vids on as many other disks as it takes .
One of the difficulties I'm running into is that the text and web pages are too blurry and too small
( so far ) to be able to read as they basically scroll by while watching the DVD.
Someone suggested I might be able to create a PP project with these text and web pages - either with
.jpg files or in some other format .
So that is my question - can someone tell me if this is possible to do with Power Point and if it will create a project I can use to create a DVD .
I don't know if I should create some form of slideshow or what ?? or what formats to use etc.
I'm searching out PP tutorials and everything I can to educate myself on this project.
Am I on the right track ?
any help would be very helpful
thank you jcc
I want to add , that I don't plan on creating any effects, transitions or menus for this DVD .

There is a Wiki post, step by step guide on How to make DVD from Power Point. Have a look and see if that helps.

Formatting for web & docs is different from PPT which is different from video. You have to re-adjust when converting each one for it to come out optimally. And you'll probably have to re-adjust some of your expectations.
Having done scores of PPT -> DVD/Video and DOC/PDF -> DVD/Video (as well as JPG & other photo forms being used), I have a number of techniques, but they're quite involved (too much for a simple tute). I have talked somewhat about this here in the past, maybe you should look up one of those past posts...
Things to think about (source formats vs. video/DVD formats):
600/300/200/150/96 DPI vs. ~72DPI.
Full sRGB color gamut vs. 4:2:0 Color subsampled NTSC YUV 601 color gamut
No/Light compression vs. HEAVY compression (with accompanying artifacts)
3:2, 17:22, 1:X etc. aspect ratios vs. 4:3 or 16:9 AR (with recommended safe area margins)
Progressive imaging vs. (mainly) Interlaced imaging
Full/continuous + Limited/LUT + Line Art/Binary color palettes vs. (near)Full/continuous
CIF/SD/HD/UHD+ resolutions vs. SD resolution
"Square" pixels vs. "Non-square" pixels
If you properly account for all of that, you'll end up looking real good (or at least as good as a DVD can look).
Here is a sample screenshot taken off of the resultant DVD of one (dry!) PPT -> DVD conversion that I did ~9 years ago for a corporate client, to give you some example of the formatting difficulties encountered. Might help to look at it "full screen".
