DVD-R's can hold 4.7Gb, single layer only, so fitting an long, over 2hour DVD movie (with even two-layers) with extras, to an regular DVD-R is quite difficult without either ripping all the extras away. Or you'll face the need to re-encode the whole movie again to fit the 4.7Gb DVD-R/RW media. So 1:1 copying... not happening very often.

Don't try using this burner to play the original either.
It has special anti-copy circuitry in it.

Rip from a standard DVDROM drive, then burn with the A03.

  6. Hello Everyone,

Today I bought a DVD+RW/CD-RW It's a Sony. The program that cam with it to copy DVD's is called " B's recorder Gold " . I have the following Programs : Clad DVD XP 1.3, Ifoedit09, Vobedit04 and I can 't find the Smart Ripper at no sites.
My question is real basic, How can I take the write protected codes off a DVD movie and record the movie on a blank DVD ?? I've tried with the programs I have and none of them work except Clad DVD XP1.3 but after this process is over my program that comes with my DVD burner(B's RecorderGold) won't reconize the files to burn. I was told but Darrow that all I need is The smart Ripper(Can't find), The Ifoedit09, and the program that cam with my DVD Burner.....but I have the next best thing and somethings wrong. I have windows Xp. Can someone assist me in learning how to copy DVD movie's ?

Just downloaded the smartripper from the link that i provided. It works beautifully. Are you sure that you extracted all the files, and ran it from the same directory? Remember that sometimes you have to unlock the drive by using a software like windvd or powerdvd to access the disk.

  13. exactly right valzuniga u gotta play the dvd on power dvd for a minute or so b4 dup-dvd will recognize it and i got it from dup-dvd.com its up to you to unlock it though thats my secret jk you know its not that hard

  14. To Use smart ripper you might need to update your aspi drivers. For Win 98 ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi32.exe and if you need if for win 2000 just leave your e-mail and i'll mail it to you.
I went to look for myself, if I get back before I return, Keep me here.

  15. Hm, if you just need the movie and the audio track to it, wouldn't it be possible to just take the DVD, demultiplex the MPEG2 video and the AC3 file and multiplex it to a new file? Or possibly that doesn't work with AC3. But say you get the MPEG2 file and then reencode only the AC3 track to a normal dolby surround compatible MP2 file and then multiplex it to a SVCD and burn that mega file to a DVD?

I am not quite sure, but maybe in theory it would work. And since all the "extras" from the original DVD are gone you might be able to fit the movie on one DVD-R.

    Twitty,

No, I never read my own posts.

    But I read yours:

"some vcd's i logged over 20 hours just dealing with
    the subs".

Now, I'm no rocket scientist, but at a typical cost of $18 per DVD, I figure you made about .90 cents an hour, minus the cost of the CD blank.

Even Kathy Lee pays her kids more than that.

  18. Well, of course.

The folks who made the DVD-R standard and the drives that write to them thought carefully about how to keep you from making ILLEGAL COPIES of movies.

for $20, I'll just buy the movie. It comes with a nice case w/ cool art on it, it is more durable than a recordable, and it is typically dual-layer 9GB so it can have: a) higher bitrate, more quality or b) lots of extras.

I bought my DVD burner to make my OWN DVDs... which is what they are made for. If you bought one to pirate movies, then you deserve to have wasted your $400. Next time do a little research first.

" Don't try using this burner to play the original either"...... ,its clear you dont have one ,or you would know this to be false...and it rips fine also...

    ok and for Malcom........

1). have you ever taped a song off of the raido....or made a copy of a friends audio tape .......or ......made a copy of a friends VHS tape or taped your fav. tv show ( Queer as folk ) yes you have.

    is it ILLEGAL? NO..........

2)so dont give me your self-righteous crap. a friend of mine has a large DVD collection and im copying them for my OWN use ....which is not
ILLEGAL.......... check you laws... and if i wanted to get pirate movies
everyone knows, you could just go to KaZaA and down load them while their still in theaters.......and all the extras, and cool art .......or what you call smart marketing , so people like you will run out and give big corporations more money ...........just what they need.......well im sorry
if i dont fit into that category......but i just want the movie.....and as long as people like you have this attitude it will just make the hackers and soft wear wizzes more determined to break the copy gaurds that you hold so dear ..... because for every warm body they have making COPY GAURDS
theres a hundred breaking them. your on the wrong site this is vcdhelp
not "save the copy gaurds . com"

VCD help is a great site for people like me ,who just want a copy of a friends movies...... i came to the forum with a question. and some of the people tried to help and others....... well there just idiots and i guess ill have to deal with that on a one by one bases.....

  21. One of the most entertaining things to observe on message boards is how the right (and very brief) post can "push the right button" and cause someone else go off on a tangent, pounding their keyboard in a furious rage as their blood pressure skyrockets.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  22. to each his own:

You can use your A03 to author DVDs containing original content, to copy PS2 games or to backup DVD movies...some people may even partake in a combination of these things!...

...and lets get real... this is vcdhelp.com ...many people here use the info here to author original DVDs and VCDs but the majority of people use the info here to back up or copy discs which they did not author...

now TWEATTY...you can quite easily and quickly copy older DVDs with all the original menu's and features intact in only 1 STEP (2 including ripping)...this is because many of these older DVDs were created using the DVD-5 standard which is single-layered and has a maximum capacity of 4.37gb...you can copy these movies by simply ripping the DVD using SmartRipper in "Files" mode and selecting "all" files...you will get a VIDEO_TS and an AUDIO_TS folder on your harddrive which you simply import and burn in PrimoDVD or Nero...

(refer to www.DVD2DVDR.com for a thorough, easy to understand newbie guide which explains in full all the techniques discussed here...the site also has a working link to smartRipper and all the other software you may need to follow the newbie guide...TWEATY, if you're calling it "not so smart ripper" then it's probably because you don't know how to use it.)

There are many great DVD movies availailable for rent that are DVD-5...often times on the the back of the case near the bottom it says "dual-layer" or not...also there are websites out there that list whether certain DVDs are single or dual-layered in case you don't have the specific disc in your hands and want to know how easy it would be to copy...

Now most new release DVDs are in DVD-9 mode which is a dual-layer mode which has twice the capacity of DVD-5 discs...however, many of these movies can also be copied quite easily since often times the movie is still less than 4.37gb and the rest of the DVD-9 disc is filled with special features...you simply rip with SmartRipper in "movie" mode and it will automatically only select the main movie files...you then select only the one AC3 audio track that you need...

now, many DVD-9 movies are greater than 4.37gb even when all the extras are ripped out...in order to burn these movies you must reencode the movie usuing reMpeg which is not hard to do and does not noticeably effect the quality, but it takes overnight to process...

...for these reason, it makes sense buy DVDs with lots of xtras and cool stuff...you may want to backup older DVDs and DVDs which don't have extras or don't have extras that you want...
