All of a sudden when I insert a dvd in my drive, DVDFAB is the default player. When I right-click on Open AutoPlay, the only options to select are FAB and DVD Decrypter. Both are not suitable for playing a movie. I've went into Control Panel and tried to change the setting but the same two programs are the only options. I want Windows Media to be the default.

When I right-click on the drive in which the disc is in, it does have other programs to select (Power DVD, Corel WinDVD, Easy Media Player etc). But no Windows Media. So shouldn't these programs be in the list of options for default in Control Panel?

Somewhat the same thing goes when I insert an audio cd. I-Tunes is the default program and no Windows Media option. Yet when I right-click on Open, and it brings up the .cda files, if I double click on the files Windows Media is the program that plays the file. And for songs already on the computer, the default program is Windows.

I can get to Windows Media from the Start, All Programs menu, but it will not play media that's been inserted into the drive.

Are you still using windows xp? Then maybe try http://windows.microsoft.com/sv-se/windows-xp/help/windows-media-player/11/default-player

Or else maybe try reinstall Windows Media Player and you can set the default file types in the installation.

    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate.

Thank you! I was able to follow the link you sent even though it was meant for XP. I went into Control Panel/Default Programs and corrected it from there. It took a few trys but I got it. Thank you. I'm happy!
