What player do you want to be the default?
You should be able to set this up in the player you want to use, look for associations or extensions

MPC-HC did the same on my W7 computers. Apparently it's not easily included in the context menus. (Shows up when you R click a file.) I finally got it to stay there, but don't remember how. Maybe just re-installing it.

  5. Start MPCHC as Administrator, select View -> Options -> Player -> Formats, select all file types you want it to play.
