Hi, as a newbie, I apologise if there's already a subject like this, but I wasn't able to find it.
I'm making a wedding congratulations iMovie (in place of telegrams to be read by those in absentia). All is fine with my filming and editing of the goodwill messages, but I want a 10 second rip from a PAL movie (which I own) to preface the clips.
How can I rip and convert that ten seconds into my movie as a preface to the clips I've harvested? Any help would be appreciated. I bought a MacBook Air literally so that I could make little movies, but I'd rather do it right first time, instead of trial and error.
Many thanks for any help.

Two of the more popular tools are Mac the Ripper for ripping and MpegStrreamclip for snipping.
Macbook Air and iMovie vary widely in their capabilities depending on model, year and OS so your answer is going to be very specific to your setup. -
Thanks for the quick response.
My OS X Yosemite version 10.10
I bought the MacBook Air last month, although I note there is a newer one out now in champagne colours. Anyway, Mine is a month old. Not specific enough?
Anyway, thanks for the Mac the Ripper information.
Much appreciated.MsCurve
