  1. I am trying to create Mpeg2 video from my camcorder. I pulled the video in with Pinnacle Studio, outputted to an .avi file. It is already in the correct resolution, so I am not trying to resize or anything. I just drag and drop it in CCE, change the video settings to CBR 4500K and hit encode. When it is done I get 3 files, a .mpv that has only video, a .mpa that has only audio, and a .vaf file that is very small. I can get the video and audio files to play individually. How do I get CCE to output a real Mpeg2 file that I could put on an XSVCD? Pinnacle can output the video to mpeg2, but it looks horrible. I really would like to use CCE if I can get it to work. THanks!

  2. i would mux the mpa (rename to mp2 if tmpgenc won't see it) and the mpv (rename to m2v if tmpgenc etc...) with tmpgenc. then you will have your mpg. go to file/mpeg tools/simple multiplex:P

  3. in CCE, when you are looking at the encoding screen where you enter your bitrate, do you see the settings ES (elementary stream) and PS (program stream). ES will give you seperate audio and video files while PS will combine the 2 and give you a mpg with audio and video. if you have seperate audio there is also a way to tell it to use that also, just click the settings button next to the filename and then double click the file again, then you should see an option to use a different audio source.

it has also been said, that while CCE does very good things with the video, its audio encoding is not that good, so it might be good to just get the mpv file and combine it using bbmpeg with the seperate audio.

there is good info in the CCE manual and it can be downloaded from their website

  4. Thanks, that was what I was missing. I had seen that ES & PS setting, but I didn't know what they stood for. I had played around with about every other setting besides that. It worked perfectly using the PS setting. Also, thanks for the tip about the audio quality in CCE. I think CCE will work fine for me, though, because my camcorder doesn't pick up super high quality audio to begin with.
