Since I've upgraded to XP, I cannot run VirtualDub correctly at all. I've tried everything I could find in terms of wrappers, reinstallations, registry editing, auxsetup, windows compatbility modes, etc, but whenever I try to open a avi created from dvd2avi and vfapi conversion, I get the message that it cannot determine the file type. Anybody have any ideas?

Try re-installing (from a fresh dowload) VFAPI. And make sure you have the VFAPI plugin for DVD2AVI installed correctly. I've got it working fine. Also I'd suggest using avisynth to frameserve anyway.
