I created a DVD iso for a DVD with 8 titles on the menu screen, but when I went to "operate" the burned DVD, only the first five titles (and the "Play All" button) would allow selection with the arrow buttons.

Below the 8 titles, there's the "Play All" button. If you step down from the first title, you can go to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, but then the highlighting jumps all the way down to "Play All", totally skipping titles 6, 7, and 8.

If I use the number keys on the remote, I can go directly to 6, 7, and 8, but if using the arrow keys, it skips from 5 to "Play All".

    Why?

I checked and the settings allowed for as many as 12 titles per menu page. Why is it skipping the last three titles?

    Any ideas?

What software are you using ?

Navigation using button numbers appears, in my book, non-standard (that worked back in the days of video-CD), so that may be the issue.

in 'Menu Editor' section, you can preview the link between menu titles. Click on the 'HL Links' button, then play a bit with the thumbs by moving them in the screen.

Check if there is any discrepancy between the 'Menu Editor' setup and your DVD remote controller response.

Per the title of the thread-
AVStoDVD won't allow clicking on 6th-8th video titles?

I only tried the numbers when using the arrow buttons wouldn't give access to 6, 7, and 8.

Pretty sure it's a current version.

    Uh...

I found the button, but all it does is show they're there, which the lettering itself (titles of each...uh...title) shows.

All I see is the red broken-line outline, and two vertical lines, one orange, one yellow, one above the red, one beneath.

    Don't see any thumbs anywhere.

What version of AVStoDVD are you using?

@gastof (I seem to be writing this line a lot today )

If I had read that, I sue would not have asked the obvious. My bad.

I still do not see how the number pad should work. What if you have more than 9 buttons on the menu ?

What I think _MrC_ is saying is that when you put items on a dvd menu the button-order is automatically created - you can usually also set which button is first set.
However, the menu editor can also revise that button order. Here you seem to have buttons 1 to 5 and 'Play All' is button 6 whereas in your scheme of things 'Play All' should be button 9.

A suggestion. Re-create the links for all the menu entries and see if that cures the issue.

Thanks. The only other thing I can think of is to scatter them around the screen. Maybe proximity is an issue? Shouldn't be, tho', since the last three are the same distance from "5" and each other as the first five were.

    I dunno...

    Gahhh! I'm a moron.

When you said "thumbs", I thought you meant little icons that looked like "thumbs up" or "thumbs down".

The thought just hit me- You meant "thumbnails", right?

Thing is, I'm not using thumbnails. I've got it set up to use text only.

  9. @gastrof, no problem, we are here to understand together.

Your DVD Menu Editor page should hence appear like this:

Name:	Clipboard01.png
Views:	188
Size:	231.9 KB
ID:	29371

From title 5 you should be able to go to title 6 (remote controller arrow down), or to go to 'Play All' button (remote controller arrow right), or to go to title 4 (remote controller arrow up).

    Please check and advise.

Yeah, your picture well illustrates what I was dealing with, but the problem is the arrow buttons wouldn't let me step down from the 5th to the 6th title. It jumped to "play all".

I did carefully put each title the same distance from the ones above and below, so it's not like 6 was too close to 5, or the others were too close to each other to allow the "arrow steps" to work. The first five worked, not the last three.

    Maddening.
