  1. i have been backing up my blu ray collection with blu-cloner diamond. and then using imgbrn to copy onto bd-r 25gb memorex disc. my issue is

that the movies i've downloaded did not fit the whole movie onto the 25gb bd-r. even though i compressed from 50gb to 25gb in blu-diamond.

can someone help me out with this?

That's a whole lot of hurt in one short post.
Movies you've downloaded. You do realize we cannot discuss copyright protected movies that have been downloaded illegally in this forum, right? If there is a legal source for complete Blu-ray movies, please be specific. The only one I'm aware of is Kaleidescape, and that service requires their equipment, and those movies cannot be copied.

    Second, Blu-Cloner Diamond? Ugh.

And third, Memorex discs? Ugh yet again.

The only thing you've got right is ImgBurn, and you misspelled it.

If you want to make backups of Blu-ray movies that you have purchased, you'll need a decrypter like AnyDVD HD (not free) or MakeMKV (free while in beta). Then use BD Rebuilder (free) to compress those movies to fit a 25gb disc (using Verbatim, FTI/Falcon or Panasonic brand blank media).

If you are going to keep the movies in Blu-ray format and use MakeMKV to do the decryption/ripping, you'll need to use MakeMKV in backup mode to get the whole movie onto your hard drive. You'll also need to go to the MakeMKV forum about once a month to download a new beta key so that you can continue to use that program.

Burn to the disc at a moderate speed using ImgBurn. I generally burn at 4x.

  3. Thanks for your reply. first i do understand copyright laws and protection etc..excuse my choice of words when i said "downloaded" i was referring to my blu rays that i purchased and backed up on my hard drive. NOT movies downloaded from internet.

second can you be more specific when you say "ugh" to blu-cloner? it gave me great quality and decrypts and compress, the issue is that my backup which are under 25gb are cutting off at the end of the movies.

memorex was just a temporary buy due to that's all that was available at the time of purchase. i normally use verbatim.

i will check into anydvd and bd rebuilder but i am trying to understand if blu-cloner does the decrypting/compressing all in one what am i doing wrong that the entire movie is not fitting on the bd-r if my file size is under 25gb?

Your problem with the movies being cut off is the poor performance of Blu-cloner. That should never happen, and I've never seen it happen with BD Rebuilder. Blu-cloner is yet another commercial product that uses open source software (X264) and does it very badly.

BD Rebuilder is easily the best program for compressing Blu-ray to smaller sizes. And it is completely free to use. It is not particularly pretty, and it might take a half hour of your time to go through the settings, but it is not all that hard to learn. If you need a tutorial, I wrote one over at MyCE: http://club.myce.com/f32/bd-rebuilder-guide-313227/

AnyDVD HD is also the best at what it does, which is decryption. It can rip the entire disc to the hard drive for you, and will do so with the fewest issues showing up later. It is NOT cheap as far as decrypters go. But it is also one of the best at being updated for new encryption as it come out. MakeMKV is my second choice for decryption, but it does other things as well. MakeMKV is the only free Blu-ray decrypter that is effective for newer movies that I am aware of.

Unless something has changed ... the person who created DVD Rebuilder ... I paid $10 for it .... was what everybody used back in the day ... but now we have Blue Ray ... and the same guy ... created BD Rebuilder ... I used it a couple of times ... back in 2010 or 2011 ... we bought ... The Sound of Music and Fantasia ... a DVD and a Blue Ray was in them ... I messed around with them using ... BD Rebuilder ... we didn't have a Blue Ray player in living room or bedroom ... it was just something to mess with ... BD Rebuilder did work fine .... I am an owner of Any DVD .... but not AnyDVD HD .... but I still managed to rip the Blue Ray disk ... for the heck of it ...

OH and to mention ... we are not like other websites ... we don't have advertisements showing women taking their clothes off ... real companies show their products here and they don't want to be associated with a website that instructs a person how to rip a DVD rented from Blockbuster ... or from a kiosk at your local grocery store ...
