  1. I have a 60 min ASF file with 480x360 frame size and 1039K bit rate.

Will I get a better quality disk if I convert it to svcd (1580K bit rate since I like to compress it to 1 80min disk) than vcd (1150K bit rate I believe)?

Or maybe the quality of my source file is not high enough to make any noticeable difference?

    Thanks for your help.

    in general, higher bitrate=higher quality
but, it will depend on your source
I would say that if you can fit it to 1 disk using the higher bitrate SVCD, do that. by the way, is that CBR 1580? if so, you may be able to get higher quality by using VBR(use bitrate calculator to determine max/avg bitrates)
    hope that helps

  3. Thanks, it helps!!

The reason I came here for help instead of doing some experiment is that I have a very old computer. It takes me 2 hours to convert a 10 mins ASF clip to MPEG-2!!! I'm not going to spend that much time if there's no significant improvement. Once again, thanks for your help.
