    I don't have a DVD burner but I would think that the DVD authoring option would show up on my version of Nero 5.5.8.0. I have been upgrading versions from Nero 5.5. Should I do a clean install?

    I found that I had to uninstall and reinstall 5580 in order to get it to recognize my drives. I also read a similar post on alt.video.desktop that mentioned he had some issues too.

    Again:
    To enable the CD / DDCD / DVD options:
    Go to "Preferences" in the File Menu, select "Expert-Features" in the Preferences Tab, ENABLE the "Show all compilations ..." check-box and apply the changes.
    Hit the "New compilation" button to see the new drop-down box for choosing the type of medium you want to burn.
