Hey guys, I've looked this all over the internet and I can't seem to find it. When I'm attaching a .srt file to a .mkv file with mkvmerge everything goes just fine except that when I watch the file certain encoding stuff doesn't show. Per example, italic and bold tags keep showing. I know this is not a big deal and it's simple but it keeps nagging me. I know that this can be resolved by changing the Charset settings except I don't know which setting to use. Any help?

it's probably not the char set but the device displaying the srt. some will only display plain text.

I don't think it's the device. I mean I suppose my computer would be able to display it correctly... so I'm not sure

srt by definition doesn't include anything but normal text. some players may use alt chars but it's not standard.
using utf-8 char set.SRT is perhaps the most basic of all subtitle formats.
It consists of four parts, all in text..
1. A number indicating which subtitle it is in the sequence.
2. The time that the subtitle should appear on the screen, and then disappear.
3. The subtitle itself.
4. A blank line indicating the start of a new subtitle.--
