  1. Some crap program like WinDVD3 or PowerDVD installed some file/s that allowed mediaplayer to open & play mpeg2 files....the problem is it plays them at like 5x the speed skipping tons of frames at the same time and then crashes.

    I uninstalled both pragrams, and mediaplayer still does this.

    This is on a clean install of win2k Pro & the only other things I installed were the picvideo mjpg codecs.

    On Win98 Mediaplayer plays them at the normal speed, but crahes also (only windvd2.3 on that system)

  2. Try the Elecard player at http://www.elecard.com

    It will install the MPEG2 codec as well as a player - with the codec installed, WMP will play MPEG2 files. If WMP still crashes at that point, use the Elecard player that was installed.

    Mediaplayer works normal now & doesn't even crash..
