I've been watching alot of College Football intro videos on Youtube and as a player for a semi pro football Team in Los Angeles, i think it would really help us get some buzz, if we can generate something "epic" and at least captivating. My question is this: i have pasted two links to videos i found to be very awesome and are along the lines of what i'm looking for. What really captivates me is the High Definition obtained within the footage. Is this a result of the Camera? or is it all simply post production and editing? Is there an ideal CAMERA i should use in order to get this particular look and style?

Is there an ideal camera i should consider purchasing for this?

The linked videos have been through not just many hours of processing, but probably a few weeks of daily work -- not counting the time spent setting up and recording the original shots. Both were carefully processed with color correction, proper luma and chroma levels, likely processed using lossless media, some expensive software, and many many many other technical considerations were observed by the makers. From concept to execution, this sort of thing takes time, patience, skill, and planning. You might be able to get similar effects with a $1500 to $2000 consumer camera (but these videos likely used something more expensive), about $1500 worth of software at the least (not counting a load of free stuff you could use to help things along), etc. etc., etc.

The good news is you're in LA, you should consider renting a RED scarlet or RED epic or Arri Alexa if you want to match this quality. There are plenty of rental shops around. (Start with Wexler in Burbank.)

The tough news is you're in one of the most technically knowledgeable markets in the country and it's going to take a LOT to impress folks and generate buzz. Put your effort into the concept.

    Good luck
