    Can anyone suggest an alternative to Freemake?

    I had been using it to covert DVDs to Xvid or mp4 format, but it has recently quit working.


    (Either it hangs while loading the vob file, or reaches 50% on a dual-pass conversion and then hangs.)


    I tried installing Avi.net, but it kept crashing on me, even after I cleaned out my registry.


    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    I use VidCoder, which is a gui for HandBrake.

    XviD4PSP, of course your ripping dvd to hd using DVDFab HD Decrypter otherwise issues can occur.

    There is relatively new tool that might be worth trying, Video to Video Converter. It is a front end for a number of free conversion tools and supports conversion to XVid avi and H.264 mp4 files. It has the ability to rip DVDs although it probably isn't quite in the same class as commercial ripping software.
