ive been trying to find a good rca splitter i bought one of amazon but the only 1 i could find was cheap and as i feared it made the video dark and it had interferance i want to split the video to my tv and my capture card one of my friends told me my best bet would be 2 get one of these http://www.amazon.com/Composite-S-Video-Distribution-Amplifier-Splitter/dp/B003CMDGJK/...9230613&sr=1-2 but i really dont have the space to use one of those i just need a small rca video splitter that will keep the quality up and wont get any interference help is appreciated

Can you daisy chain the signal through your capture card and tv rather than splitting it?

Your friend has the right idea, but the model in the link is only so-so, not that great. Much better to go with a compnay that's been in this business for long long long time and makes good stuff. Try this one, doesn't cost much more: http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Electronics-AV-400-Distribution/dp/B000BLJE8W/ref=pd_sim_e_2

If you think you're going to get a clean signal with a cheapo 59-cent plastic plug, you're in for a lot of disappointment. They don't work. Never did. Never will.

The problems you saw when using the splitter you bought resulted from the signal strength being cut in half, which is unavoidable with a passive splitter. A powered/amplified splitter/distribution amplifier like your friend suggested works better because it doesn't weaken the composite video signal (or the stereo audio signal). I can't recommend something that is significantly smaller because any amplified RCA splitter is going to be large (and expensive) compared to a passive RCA spltter
