In a more modest setup anything by logitech is quite good. I have an older 5.1 analog speaker system by them that I liked.

Garbage. One could start by staying away from BestBuy and its ilk, maybe get a budget deal on a 2.1 system with PSB Alpha PS-1 powered speakers and PSB's PS-100 subwoofer to round things out. You'd need something far better than a cheapo ASUS or Sound Blaster junk card, so go USB with the HRT USB Music Streamer HD output amps. Will set vou back a mere $1000 USD. Or nearly double that piddling sum for 5.1 sound with PSB add-ons. Maybe up the ante and get some real audiophile MM speakers instead of the powered guys (PSB sells the big guys, too). Somehow figure how to feed that bigger 5.1 setup with a Halide DAC HD D/A USB converter ($500 USD just turn those digits into analog that the $2000 worth of speakers can regail you with). But the HRT or the Halide would be like overkill for a PC setup. I'd settle for 2.1.

Edifier? Ah, I see. So you're not serious about "the best". Your basic question is misleading and you've wasted our time again (as if anyone here is actually surprised). Edifier makes 7 or 8 different speaker models. They use the same drivers and electronics as do all the other generic, average consumer speakers sold all over the world. They all sound alike, size for size, dollar for dollar, feature for feature, because they are all made from the same cheap components housed in different containers with different labels on them. Take your choice.

2) BUILD yourself the necessary wooden enclosures.

3) BUILD yourself some decent power amplifiers.

Don't be fooled by the low price. You'll love these speakers.

You can buy without the sub if 2.0 will fill the bill, and save some money. Klipsch is an outstanding brand.
