Hello,

Due to the Old nature of the machine I use Newtek TriCaster TC350 (Manuf. 2010) and recently doing a Restore of it. I have to convert my MPEG to an MP4 then edit that MP4 and use the same settings for the edited version of the MP4 I want if i'm using the same conversion settings all the way through I wouldn't think picture quality would change if it's the same settings. If you go to http://southsidealliance.org/ssamedia/archive/ssaworship then watch the most recent video looks OK but if you look closely there is a ripple in the middle. This is not in the original video. I am using Level 4 Main Profile so Apple iPad can play it on safari.

yes, if you reencode content to a lossy output format you will lose quality, no matter which settings you use.
So if you reencode MPEG-4 AVC/ASP content and you are not using MPEG-4 AVC lossless you will lose quality on each reencode.

If you're making simple, cuts-only edits something like TMPGenc Smart Renderer might work for you. I would make the modifications as early in the chain as possible -- before ANY rendering to mp4, but it will handle either format. Programs like this will only reencode as much material as necessary to make the edits smooth and will simply pass the rest of data on where there's no changes.

Also, I'm curious, I see so many churches that record their services and post them online. It seems to be quite a big business. Do people actually watch these things? How many hits do you typically get on a program like this?

We don't get a huge following unless we really advertise it we have it set for about 20 simultaneous users. But larger churches have a better time cuz they have more money to advertise. TMPGenc would be nice here's the problem i'm having i used to be able to edit the MPEG files fine on the TriCaster using AVS video editor. Now anytime I try to skip until I find the right spot it freezes the program. I am not sure if the lower end software can only handlea certain GB file ours run 25-30 GIGS for 1 1/2 - 2 hour video. That's with 4 GB of Ram and a Intel Q8400 Quad Core processor. I couldn't find lossless setting but I have these options for encoding method i have single pass bitrate multipass-first pass multipass-first pass (fast) and something called Single Pass - quantizer.I also have rate control settings and MB's and Frame settings I think. I just don't know if that would help the quality lol.
