  1. Hi guys,

I'm having a problem ripping a dvd9 disc. I tried using AnyDVD, DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD decrypter, and ISObuster, with all four programs I get the same bad sector error around the 5th vob. Also I tried setting the programs to ignore read errors, but the bad sectors go on forever. I put it in my laptop instead and noticed the video playback is perfect, but my laptop cannot rip the disc either w/ the same errors.

I also put the disc in my downstairs computer, video playback was fine for the 5th vob, but those programs failed again in copying it. I also made sure I cleaned the disc.

It's also worth noting that this dvd9 is from a box set w/ 3 other dvd5s. The dvd5s ripped with no problems whatsoever, and it just so happens that this dvd9 fails around the midway mark which is the size of a dvd5. I have a feeling this dvd9 disc wasn't made properly, but still works in most dvd players for some reason.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

The player can skip through the bad section. A perfect copy can't do that.

Some people use ISOPuzzle for problem dvds. If it is encrypted, you'll need AnyDVD running in the background.

Set them to ignore read errors and perform one or no retries. Let them run overnight. They'll eventually complete.
