  1. is it possible to watch Divx movies on a tv if you hook up tv out from your computer to the tv? or will they not work because divx is a compressed format?

  2. It works, and usually very well. Hook up that S-Video cable (or composite if you must) and the audio cable(s), and grab some popcorn!

p.s. The video is decompressed (and converted to NTSC/PAL) before it gets to the TV-out, just as it is before it gets to the monitor-out.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

    air360,

Yeah, you can. provided you have a TV out (RCA) on your graphics card.

I've given this a try on divX clips cause so many people claims its such a
    greate quality - yeah, right!
Tried it on a really good divX clip, but guess what, doesn't look all that
as good, as a VCD or SVCD. But this was my experience.

I have an ATI Rage Fury agp w/ TV out (RCA) but it's TV out seems
to suck, so I just go on believing that they are ALL the same. But could
I be wrong? anyways, I don't care much for divX - only vcd and most of
    all, svcd.

Why people insist on viewing divX on TV is beyond me. For me, it's not
all that fun - this divX stuff.
