I followed all the steps from
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/270926-How-to-convert-jpg-pics-to-avi
and
http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=34
but the jpgs still are NOT loading!
I checked the Automatically load linked segments
I set the File type to Image Sequence
What did I do wrong?
It's about 27.000 jpgs

what version of vdub are you using ?
are the jpg's sequentially numbered? eg. 000001.jpg, 000002.jpg....
try a test with just 3-4 jpgs in a folder ( it might be vdub slow loading thousands of jpegs) , to rule out image importing issues
alternatively you can use ImageSource() if you are familar with avisynth -
are you images are named with sequential numbering?
(poisondeathray was faster)
-
should i be insulted? no.
j/k
But, yes of course the images are sequentially numbered.Stupid of me not to mention that first.
I use virtualdub version 1.9.11
I've tried it with 100, 50 and 6 images, no joy whatsoever.
What is ImageSource() and how do I use it?
I've tried VirtualdubMod 1.5.10 too, don't work.Last edited by KneeRow; 5th Aug 2013 at 10:51.

I Just did the following:
1. copied a bunch of jpgs inside a folder
2. renamed them so that they match your naming
3. opened Virtual Dub (1.10.3)
4. drag&dropped the first image into Virtual Dub
-> all files were displayed properly
Can you open the files in a normal image viewer? -
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ashamed! It WAS the image sequencing! You can see in the above list, every fourth file is missing!!!!!
SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
("BANGS head against granite keyboard!")
I am sorry to have wasted your time.
I wanted to make the video a slow-motion video via this method.
[2] I extracted all frames as pics with Virtualdub, about 1600 pics in total.
[3] I then copied this four times, until i had 27600 pics, four sets of 6800 pics.
[4] I then renumbered them with Total Commander, from 1a, 1b, 1c, to 1, 2, 3, 4, ....27600.
[5]I then loaded them back into Virtualdub,
This is prolly not the best way to get a slomo video, but it's cheap, and entirely my own. so ...Last edited by KneeRow; 5th Aug 2013 at 11:23.

you could have just changed the output frame rate or use a decimate-filter for Virtual Dub
-
You can do slomo in avisynth, but it can be difficult to learn at first
A free program that allows for ramping (curves) with a GUI featuring smooth transitions is slomovideo
http://slowmovideo.granjow.net/
It allows for optical flow (motion vector interpolated frames) , not just simple inserted duplicates or inserted blended frames - it's a alternative to more expensive plugins and programs like twixtor, after effects ,nuke -
thanks, you two, i will give it a shot.
