I have a Blu-Ray of the TV series The Sarah Jane Adventures, which contains an SD of the Doctor Who story Pyramids Of Mars. I also have the DVD release.
On the Blu-Ray there is a higher bit rate than the DVD, yet the Blu-Ray version is over 1GB smaller than the DVD.
Therefore, my question is are conversions from the DVD format to .ts compressed?

Are you comparing the blu-ray m2ts files and the DVD vob files?

Don't compare with mkv/mp4 that might be more compressed than dvd vob files.

Yep, I'm comparing m2ts with vob. I've no idea if what is on the Blu-Ray has been compressed, but I'm wondering if the size is reduced when converted to m2ts?

A blu-ray is usually about 15-40gb...what is the total size of all m2ts files in the BDMV STREAM folder?
