So I used Handbrake for the first time. Completely ripped a DVD to my hard drive and was able to make a full sized MKV file and play it without issue. Using Handbrake to make an H.264/MKV from the DVD rip. Kept a constant framerate, didn't change many settings. When I can play the 6GB DVDrip --> MKV on my Samsung TV just fine but when I try the H.264 (1.6GB) version my Samsung TV freezes and restarts. I've never had this problem with videos I've downloaded so it seems to be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help?

What h264 preset and level did you use in handbrake? Try use main preset and 4.1 lever or lower. You find it under the Video tab.

And use mediainfo and compare all settings with a working mkv h264 with yours that wont work.
