newbie need help!

ok this has probably been asked a billion times but here goes

I have ripped a few dvd's and a few ps2 dvd games....

when i ripped dvd's i used smart ripper, then tmpg to convert then burnt with nero

but the quality wasn't that great

just wanted to know what you guys use and what combinations of software will get the best result?

dont know about the ps2 games but i use smartripper, DVD2AVI, Tmpgenc for my movies and they all come out great 99.99% as good as the original. Only problem i had with bad rips was the cheap silver blank cds i was useing. Bought a better cd and i have no problems at all now. :)
