    Hi All,

I've bought this LG RH387H HD recorder and I want to make it region free.

The solutions found so far on this website do not work (at least not with my machine), the LG website does not have the software/drivers available for download although it says in the FAQ. They probably had it available in the past?

The quick method with going to Home/setup/lock/press 0 more then seven times (no window pops up) and the enter to confirm.
For the machine I have this does also not work..

Is there anyone out there who has another suggestion or option??

This model number is from December 2009

    Thanks and regards,

    Arno

There's no harm in asking. A few rare requests like this do eventually get answered with working hacks that are different from what we know about here. But most of the time they don't.

Unfortunately manufacturers change hardware during production and that can break hacks that worked in the past. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that sometimes by the time someone posts a hack that works, the hardware you can buy may already be different. Or the hack may only work on models sold, say, in the Asia Pacific region. I know that many people believe that all players/recorders can be made region free by entering a code, but that is not true and many (maybe now even most) models can never be made region free unless you are willing to pay a shop to install customized hardware in the player for you that can make it region free.

Hi Jman98, thanks for your answer.. It does sound quite logical after all, I might ask in a shop if they've solutions for it. When I bought a Pioneer DVD player a couple of years ago, I've also had it made region free by the same shop.
But maybe someone else who reads this might still have an idea that does work?

Thanks for the tip em-t-wallitt, I've tried and it also did not work!
I've created the CD with the RMTM0000 folder, the LG reads it and I get a window: No Video? and I can only hit the ok button and then it reads "Data" cd in the right top corner of the screen, but nothing happens after that.
I've tried a second CD then with the "SCARLET" folder but I get exactly the same result..

  6. It worked for me. Like you, I wasted a few cds when I first tried it. I suggest using a cd-rw.

I used ImgBurn 2.5.0.0, made sure under Options were:

    Data Type: Mode1/2048
    File System: ISO9660

ImgBurn should automatically close the session. If you're using another burning program like Nero, make sure the settings above are selected and you check off the option to close the session.

    Hi Em-t-wallitt, It worked indeed!!
I've also used ImgBurn; Choose "Create Image file from files/folders" followed your advice: Data Type: Mode 1/2048 Filesystem: ISO9660 and as LABEL: CODEFREE.
After burning the image to the disc I've loaded it in the LG and aftre reading the window popped up.

In the window it stated "Region 2" as Active, I could enter on the second line another figure, choose 0.

After a few seconds the window disappeared again, retested it and the LG was Region Free!!

    Thanks again!

    cheers,

    Arno
