Before anything I want to emphasize that I did in fact make sure that the video output in the options is set to 16:9 and not 4:3. My problem is that my source material is 16:9 (1920*1080) yet upon trying to output my vids in WMV format, the vids are cropped to 4:3 (1440*1080) format. I'm using Windows Vista's (64bit) movie maker.
Attached is a picture of some clear contradictory information. It clearly says 16:9, yet the aspect ratio of 1440*1080 is definitely 4:3 and upon trying to upload these vids I get the dreaded black borders when trying to watch them.
What is going wrong here if it's not the source material and not the aforementioned settings in WMM?

The frame size does not have to correspond to the display aspect ratio. Ie, any frame size can be displayed with any aspect ratio. Are you sure your source is 1920x1080? HDV is often 1440x1080 but with a display aspect ratio of 16:9. Or WMM may be reducing the frame size in order to deliver less artifacts with the low bitrate you are using.

Yes, my source files are definitely 1920*1080.
The thing is that I've only recently switched to WMM (was using some freeware program called VirtualDUB for a while, but it was a pain to use for long files in 1920*1080 quality; you'd often spend an hour simply adding the files together, as my recording software records in chunks) and my previous movies used with this VirtualDUB are 1920*1080 and at acceptable filesizes (which indicates that it's not the fault of the source material AND shows that it is in fact possible).
Is there a way to force WMM to use the 1920*1080 aspect ratio and/or change the bitrate to deal with this accordingly?
[edit]After reviewing this post I noticed VirtualDUB got an entry on this site and it actually tells me there's batch-processing capabilities. And alternative solution to this issue would be a handy way to process in batch, rather than appending video fragments one after another.[/edit]
