  1. Good Evening Fellas,
I have a GE 1101p and when playing the VCDs I have made, I experience a few sometimes major playback problems (the video slows down then speeds up causing the audio to go off sync. When I finally tried to make one of my Divxs into an SVCD instead, I got higher quality playback, but the backround was blocky so obviously SVCD is the way to go in my case because the blockiness is less of a problem. Should I just eat the blocky backgrounds to go with MPEG-2, or is there a better way?

  2. IMO, DivX to SVCD will always produce blockiness..so yes you will eating a lot..DivX is MORE compressed at LOWER bitrate than SVCD....if you have the original DVD or access to capture...it is much easier to go striaght ot SVCD and leave DivX outthe whole process altogether.

  3. K-Diddy,
I would go from dvd->svcd if it were easier for me. Divx seems to be the next best source for me because I can get my hands on them relatively easy. Is their something better than divx besides ripping the dvd by myslef (vob files, frame saving ect...) Also, I have a question to ask. If I were to rip my own dvds, about how long would the process take up until I didn't need the dvd disc anymore?

There are several guides, and DVD2SVCD is pretty straight forward.

"Is their something better than divx "

Yes, VCDs/SVCDs rips, but thats personal opinion.

"I were to rip my own dvds, about how long would the process take up until I didn't need the dvd disc anymore?"

Techinically, right after you rip to your hard drive, however that takes for you.

  6. e-z-e I have an 1101p and thought the a/v sync, speed-up slow-down were player based. The thing is when i place the same VCD in my panasonic player, the same scenes where they get outta sync in my 1101p they have "blips" on my Panasonic but no sync issues. These bad spots were not in my source mpg-1 files so.... I discovered lowering my burn rate fom 16x to 10x or so solved the problem. My little bro has the 3-disc version of this player and he has to burn them at 8x to keep this from happening but that is his burner also.....

  7. since last posting i have lowerd from 8x then to 4x and even 2x and the same problem w/ A/V syncing happens....I am convinced that it is not the burn speed for my player.
