I know I've done this in the past but I'm not having any luck for some reason.
Every computer in my house only has one user setup in Win7 and none of them have passwords.
I want to skip the user logon screen when booting up or coming out of sleep mode.
But I still have to click the user icon or hit return for windows to start.
In the run box I typed netplwiz for the user accounts popup.
'users must enter a user name and password to use this computer' is unchecked.
also confirmed in registry
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Name: AutoAdminLogon
Type: REG_SZ
Value: 1 enable auto logon
Value: 0 disable auto logon
I thought this was all that had to be done... am I forgetting something?
Not the end of the world on my regular computers but I really don't want to have to do this on my HTPC or in my MAME cabinet....

Create a password to your user.
Now press on keyboard "Windows+R", in dialog box type (no quotes) "control userpasswords2", uncheck the box (like below), press apply and enter your password in next dialog box and reboot your PC.
Only this. you windows never will stay in logon screen. I use this for my HTPC.

To skip the user logon screen when coming out of sleep mode, go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options. Click on "Require a password on wakeup" from the left side of the window and make sure that "Don't require a password" is selected under the section labeled "Password protection on wakeup".

Thanks guys... I tried usually_quiet's suggestion first since it was easier.
That did it.
