  1. I am about to purchase a notebook with a firewire port and due was wondering about the possibilities of using a Mini DV camcorder to capture analog video. I know I can recorder to tape from TV etc and then send this through the Firewire port later but due to the limited tape length of Mini DV tapes I was wondering if it would be possible to send this analog capture to my computer in real time. By this I mean could I attach the source to the camcorder and the camcorder to the computer by firewire and without actually recording to the tape send to footage the camcorder is recieving from the source directly to the computer, bypassing the recording to tape and capturing directly to my hard drive. I have Adobe Premier, could this program enable this or do camcorder not have the ability to output to firewire unless output data recording on actual tape.
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, it can be done. It's a function of the camcorder and not Premiere. Sony's can do it... don't know about others.
