  1. Hi!
I am a big fan of anamorphic widescreen video, I'm often shooting with 1.33x Panasonic AG-LA7200 anamorphic lens.

I need to make video in 2560x1080 resolution, but I don't know how to do it in popular editing programs. All I can do now is export the video I edited in the resolutions the editing software is offering me (like 1920x1080) and then convert it with Koyote Free Video Converter (which I use) reducing it size by 25% by squeezing the video to 1920x810. Koyote Free Video Converter allows to choose any video size I like, I can specify just any height and width, that's why I prefer to use it. But there is a noticeable quality reduction, and if I specify big bitrate, the files just become huge. And converting video takes time which I wouldn't like to waste. So i really want to make 2560x1080 (or any other resolution I like) video with the help of video editing program, or better edit video in that resolution. Which editing programs can do it and how?

Also, I have a 576x720 anamorphic footage which I would like to export in wider resolution, but still, the only option I have is to widen it with my video converter which reduces quality.

    Thank you for help!

Sony Vegas goes up to 4K resolution. Simply start a new project with the resolution you desire.

Vegas is "resolution independent", so no matter the source, it will requantize it to the project specs. It's like music, if you have a 4/4 piece, you can upsample it to 8/4, 16/4, 32/4 or whatever.

Use the Crop Tool to visualize the output according to different resolutions and aspect ratios.

I don't really understand your confusion.

You've got an anamorphic lens, that shoots 4:3, so a normally 1920x1080 (aka 16:9 DAR) shot would encompass a full 2560x1080 anamorphic image. So shoot with that lens and a 1080i or 1080p camera. Take the data into Vegas with a 1920x1080-based project/session setting, do all your edits, then export as Lagarith (or whatever you like) at 2560x1080 (aka ~2.37:1) superwidescreen.
    Or
Import your 1920x1080 anamorphic footage into a 2560x1080-based project, set your interpretation of the footage to be ~2.37:1 DAR, or use the Crop/FX tool to "stretch" back out your footage, so it matches the frame size. Then export at 2560x1080...
