    I just came back from a two weeks trip where I used my camera and filled up 2 memory cards of 16 GB.
    When I tried to copy them to my computer it was blocked saying that the cards need to be formatted (both at the same time?).
    What can be done to regain my photos and videos? I did not format them. It cannot be watched on the camera either. Thanks for any help.

    dunno about the rat, what smells bad?

    flash card don't have a good track record for recovering video data. one of the better free ones is photorec.

    Meanwhile if this is legitimate, it's about as bad as it gets. What model, most of them couldn't handle 16GB cards?
