My stepdad gave me a microSDXC card and the adapter that came with it to use in my camcorder. The camcorder is a Sony HDR-CX190. It is compatible with SDXC cards but when I go to use this in it (using the SDXC adapter) I get a C:13:01 error code. That's not the weirdest part though. When I put it in my computer (also SDXC compatible) it says to format the card and it wants to format it to not 64 GB but 36 MB. Any help in figuring this out would be apprecciated, I don't want to have to buy another card. The card is a SanDisk Ultra and the speed is UHS 1 (regular class 10 like my 32 GB card).

maybe try a different adapter and see if the cam can recognize it. if it does have the cam format it. if not you could try the official sd card formatter from the sd association.

    https://www.sdcard.org/home/

if that fails sandisk gives a lifetime warranty on that product.

I'll try the formatting tool. Hopefully it works.

Just like the computer, the formatting tool wants to format to 36 MB.

  5. It's very common for unscrupulous flash card sellers to take small cards and fake a larger size to sell if for more money. It looks like that's what you have. The problem goes unnoticed until the card starts to fill up and fail.

This is about USB flash drives but the issue can be with any flash memory:

There are web sites that tell you how to check the real size of your flash card.

I can understand that for some more unknown scam artists but I wouldn't expect SanDisk to do something like that...then again...

Of course SanDisk wouldn't do that. But the manufacturer could be fake too. Depending on where it was bought. Or maybe it's just gone bad. At today's prices you might as well just throw it out if it's malfunctioning.

I'll see what the people at Best Buy can do for me (I'm expecting nothing really useful, it's best buy ).

  9. I think most of the fakes come via ebay.
