    Hi all:

Trying to shrink an mkv video file with handbreak and after reading this guide:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/304167-How-to-make-a-single-MKV-from-a-Blu-ray-%28a...o-shrink-it%29

I only have the following doubt.

The guide says that on "video" we can select how many MB we want the final movie using the " TARGET SIZE"

However my HB vers. 0.9.8 , I see only 4 possibilities:
    VIDEO QUALITY
    video codec constant quality
    frame rate avg bitrate (kpbs)

I don't have the TARGET SIZE option !!!

What to do if I want a final video with around 4.7 GB to fit a normal DVD ??

Target size was removed from HB some time ago.
Try using instead vidcoder, a HB gui which I beleive still support that feature.

    Ok Thank you both.

In this moment I'm testing Vidcoder (40 minutes to finish the job).

What older version do you sugest ??

What do you think it's the best ?? vidcoder or handbrack ??

  4. 0.9.5 was the last Handbrake release to include a target size option.

As for which is best, Vidcoder simply revamps Handbrakes gui. The encoding engine is still Handbrake.

    Take your pick.

If you are looking for faster converter then try kirara encoder. But might not be as simple as handbrake.

    Hi all:

    Something went wrong with vidcoder.
Final video file can't be played , at least with VLC and MPC-BE, don't know why.

    Will give Kirara a try.

    tks.

4.37 GB 'MAX' size in 'real numbers' for a DVD-5.
4.7 GB is sometimes stated, but incorrect. https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

4.2 GB is a good number for most dvdr blanks as you really don't want to write to the last couple hundred mb on the outer edge. the rest is there, but questionable for use.

Just to finish this thread I would like to say that in fact Kirara is really faster than the others and easy to use.
