Carnt rip a few cd's. Help Please.

Ive tried to rip 2 of my dvds and they wont copy. I rip them useing SmartRipper and it rips it o.k. I then use DVD2AVI for the audio section. Right at the start of the ripping (DVD2AVI) i either get a error msg saying something like "illegal operation" or i get a red square pop up on the DVD2AVI black screen. It wont let me go any further. Is there any way i can get around this? The films are Pretty Woman & Lady and the Tramp 2.
My pc specs are

1000mhz amd
512 meg ram
30 gig hard drive

i use
Smartripper
DVD2AVI
Tmpgenc

to rip the dvd's.

Any help would be great.

try viewing the vobs in your software dvd player (i.e. winDVD/powerDVD)...make sure the vobs were ripped correctly

also, i'm assuming you're saving a project file and not creating a .avi file, right?

could also be the version of dvd2avi you're using...try using older version
