Noob save question

I don't use a mac (yet) but my partner just bought a mac book pro & she is having trouble with her assignment
She is using Pages, needs to save it as .doc but each time she can only save as ie go in & choose location, title etc
How can she just save with not going through that process?
Sorry if its a stupid question but it would help a lot

EVERYTHING is harder on a Mac. They have their place and I certainly no fan of Microsoft, but EVERYTHING is lots more complicated with Macs.

If your partner wants a free clone of Microsoft Office, look into Libre Office. I use it and I'm happy with it.

LibreOffice would do the trick and you both could use it, since its Cross Platform.

I wish you well, but you have just discovered the problem with Apple; if you enjoy trying various free & retail software programs you are heading into frustration alley big time.
