I'm planning on buying a dvd burner pioneer dvr a04. I'm wondering when I rip a dvd with say smartripper, will it rip the surround sound channels? I was wondering this so when I back up a dvd I can still have surround sound. thanks. I know this maybe a dumb question.

yeah smartripper will rip all the soundtracks unless you check streamprocessing and then choose which tracks you want.
So basically. launch smartripper and rip the whole dvd. Then you can go about stripping unwanted menus etc so it will go on a 4.7gb dvd.
Hope this helps
